THE CITY'S NEW PULLMAN.

Sup peeps😍! Y'all ever wondered how it was like before the new train? I'm talking of the Standard Gauge Railway 🚉 which has been working for quite some time now, specifically in Mombasa City. Talk of environmental pollution, speed of older trains, I mean, you could literally get angry by traveling on train. Expensive in maintenance due to its oldness. A couple of disadvantages.

The introduction of the SGR changed things to the advantage of people of Mombasa but at the same time has got its drawbacks too.

On its  positive side, SGR has promoted tourism in that, it has reduced the cost of commuting and increased passenger capacity. Not to sound biased but Coast region is the most popular for local tourists.

Trucks carrying containers to and from the Port have been congesting the City causing traffic on the roads. The SGR decreased the number of tracks on roads and decongesting Mombasa City resulting in to a reduction in congestion and traffic hence increased road safety.

Since everyone prefers cheaper things, Mombasa people can easily and oftenly use the SGR to travel to different places of their choice due to reduced transport cost and time travel.

On the introduction of the SGR, people have lost their jobs rendering them jobless and lowering the economy as well. Drivers, mechanics and staff working in fuel stations.
Due to the high numbers of people being sacked, various businesses have collapsed as well. Such as, fueling stations, as all goods are to be transported by train. Hotel and lodges are closed as there are no patrons.

On the construction of the SGR, the Kenyan government was at loss from the Mombasa County due to its construction and it being so costly.

You might be asking why the SGR?
The SGR was to stregnthen the socio-econimc activities in East Africa, increase transportation links and boost the country's economy.

Consequently, the Standard Gauge Railway, has both merits and demerits depending on how they are exhausted.

Again don't forget to share 😚

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!

             YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!
Hey guys, y'all are cool right😊?  Today's a critical topic. One that is a scare to many, not just people but the whole world at large. We talking of the new virus in town, the Corona virus.

I bet we all know where this new virus originated from, its not news. But how do people perceive this, what do they have to say, are they safe? Well, there has been so many questions to the scientists, the press, and the government as well. People have been fed false information from various sources not knowing which to believe. We're all at risk from bad information.

The virus is believed to be fatal and there's currently no known cure for it. It is said that it cannot survive outside a host for a long period while other sources claim that it takes days on a surface before it dies out. This literally means, very many people are at risk of being infected because we all come across different surfaces each day. How contradicting. The virus is transmitted through human to human contact via droplets emitted from an infected person through coughing or sneezing as stated by Singapore's Health Minister Mr. Gan Kim Young. AzharAliLeghari

The outbreak has affected transportation for instance in Nairobi - Kenya, guests have canceled their plans to travel and government officials have been banned from traveling as well. The UK government advises against all travel to China therefore the travel industry has been massively affected with airlines cutting flights and tourists canceling business trips and holidays.

There's an outcry even with those doing small businesses. People are becoming more cautious. Others avoid activities that might expose them to the risk of infections such as going out shopping. Therefore, restaurants and shops have reported a fall in customer demand. The tourism industry has largley been affected as well, as international conferences have been suspended and tourists are not traveling due to fear.

It is said that the Dettol antiseptic spray kills Coronavirus. Well fullfact.org says.... https://twitter.com/FullFact/status/1235255255031599104?s=19

How prepared are people in this? Staying indoors, not traveling, avoiding purchasing foods, while in other countries, schools have been suspended and public places closed.
As much as the outbreak is serious, people have tried to lessen the tension by making comical statements, short videos and images.

ACADEMIA TALE

  MY ACADEMIA TALE

What's up people? Its been a while. Well today's article is more about life as a student majoring on college, campus or university 📚. A kind of life most of us are or were lucky to have. Here's my part of the story😊.

Depending on different perspectives, student life can be tough and a crucial period, on the other hand, it can be the happiest period of a person, free from the harsh world and anxieties.

Well then, I don't know what you heard or were told about life in campus but mind you, there were several exaggerations you'd think people really don't learn. You know the 'wear what you want, do what you want, choose to attend lectures or not,' the list is endless. How they lied to us! 😭

Coming to university has been one of  the defining moments of my life.

Meeting new friends and making memories,  although first year is always the hardest  to adjust to. The addition of taking care of yourself and learning how to get around campus can be too much to bear.

I got to make friends, some of who we don't get along so well now unlike before, 'si ni life💔😪'. I guess the ones who stick by you to the end are the realest💯, right? Just to mention but a few; Tinku, the famously known one in the versity, the 'celeb'😂, Uthman the popular photographer, Mahenzo the ever angry one and lastly Liz😹, ever smiling, gets angry when its something crucial. We meet different personalities each day and have to cope up and tolerate each one of them.

Campus life is not easy and has never been. Ranging from balancing between lecturers and personal life, relationship dramas and pressures, its  difficult to make a relationship work at the same time keep your grades up because most of us barely do good in both, lowering concentration in class because of another human being just ain't right.  I don't know what you might think but I'm currently taking a break from all relationship dramas. Exams, loads of assignment and home pressures just add up to a 'messy life'😕. Everything piles up making you feel  you're not doing things right.

This is the phase you are not prepared to be what you are because you moveto greener pastures, where you do things you never knew you'd do.

Not to sound weird, but food has always been a way out of all types of stresses😂. I know right!! 😹. You know how you come together and have lunch, talk, tease, laugh and get it all out, yeah, got a spot with friends just like everyone else.

My course runs for 2 years, Mass Communication, not as easy as it may sound but its cool. Been on a 3 month attachment at the Port and damn🔥! this is the only school part I'd go for over and over. Treated like bosses, attended special events. What a life! 💆
At the port with Liz during an event after KPA surpassed its container target.

I don't know what your campus life experience is but I bet it got no difference with mine.
